Almost everyone loves the weeks before Christmas. Many are busy with shopping and parties. Others are baking Christmas goodies and sending out Christmas cards. In the midst of all of the hustle and bustle, there is a joy in the air that is hard to define.
The joy we experience preparing for Christmas has so much more meaning for us as Catholics. We are celebrating the season of Advent where we are awaiting and preparing for the coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Let’s all stop and pause in the midst of our preparations and take time to silence our hearts and pray in thanksgiving that our generous God loves us so much that He is providing a means for us to be with Him forever…Jesus Christ. And we are preparing to welcome Him on Christmas morning.
We are Catholic. Let’s all prepare our hearts during the season of Advent, a wonderful time of the year, by taking time for prayer. Consider spending a little extra time before Mass to visit Jesus before the tabernacle. Ask Him to help you prepare to meet Him when He comes again so that when you are face-to-face with the Lord, He might say to you, “Thank you for always preparing for me. Now, I have prepared a place just for you.”
Discussion Question: What are some ways you can show your love and appreciation for our Lord during Advent?
Reflection: John 14:1-3
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me take the time to thank you for your generous blessings you bestow upon me daily.
