We all know that the earth revolves around the sun each day. The portion of the earth that faces the sun experiences its light. When the earth rotates away from the sun, darkness ensues. And so it is, day and night, light and darkness.
Much like the earth’s relationship with the sun, our relationship with Christ can be as bright as the sun as long as we are facing Him. Our relationship is, however, impacted by sin. When we sin, we turn away from God, away from the light. Many of us live in the darkness because we sin and do not seek forgiveness from The Lord. Like the earth, turning away from God, deprives us of His light and His love.
The good news is, like the sun, God’s love for us is constant. He wants us all to feel His love and seek His mercy. In fact, there’s nothing we can do that will change God’s love for us. Our response to His love determines whether we live in His light, His love. As constant as the sun, so is God’s love for us.
We are Catholic. We have a sacrament that will help us “rotate” back toward Christ when we sin. Allow the Son to shine in your life through the grace received every time you go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Rotate back to the light and be reconciled with The Lord. Let the Son shine in!
Ponder: In what ways do we separate ourselves from God in our thoughts, words, actions, and inactions?
Reflection: 1 John 1:9-10
Prayer: Dear God, help me to form my conscience daily by knowing your expectations of me and where I am falling short in my relationship with you.
