Do you look forward to attending Mass every Sunday, can’t wait to get there, and arrive early in anticipation of receiving Jesus in the Eucharist? From my weekly observations, most Catholics arrive at Mass within a 10-minute window, from five minutes before until five minutes after Mass begins, not too early and not too late. Some may come to Mass out of habit and obligation, as an insurance policy, just in case there really is a God and faith in Him makes a difference to our eternal life.
If Catholics only knew what they had in the most Blessed Eucharist their lives and behaviors would change permanently. To be excited in anticipation of Mass would compel everyone to arrive early to prepare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. But instead, some have become complacent and come to Mass as their insurance policy, in case there really is a heaven and hell (and mostly hell).
We are Catholic. We have so much to be excited about. We have the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist every time we come to holy Mass. No other religion on earth has the real, sacramental presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Jesus Christ is our eternal insurance. Come to holy Mass often, come early to prepare, and be united with Jesus in His body and blood.
Ponder: How do you prepare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist? What are some additional ways you can prepare to receive Him?
Reflection: John 6:48-52
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me better understand the mystery of the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.
