When we eat, our bodies absorb the nutrients in the food. Food sustains us. Its nutrients provide us with the fuel we need to live each day. Most of us require a regular eating schedule to maintain a healthy life full of energy.
Just like our bodies, our souls also need to be fed regularly in order to fuel our spiritual needs. The Lord knew we would require this spiritual sustenance for our earthly journey. He did not want to leave us hungry, and He wanted us to have the Bread of Life.
We are Catholic. While Jesus was on earth He instituted seven Sacraments for our spiritual nourishment. One of the Sacraments, the Eucharist, becomes our daily bread, if we partake in this meal every day. Eating food each day keeps us physically energized. Receiving Jesus daily keeps us spiritually energized. Seek spiritual nourishment daily. Find a daily Mass that fits your daily schedule.
Ponder: What are some of the challenges keeping you from attending daily Mass? How can you overcome these challenges?
Reflect: Sacred Scripture: Mt. 6:9-13
Pray: Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.
