One of the greatest inventions of our time may in fact be the snooze button. Even our electronic alarms have this remarkable feature. How often have we hit this button when we were not quite ready to start the day, and when our bodies were not quite ready to leave our comfy bed?
Just like our snoozing little bodies, how many of us continually hit our spiritual snooze button? We just seem to need a little more time before fully commiting ourselves to Jesus Christ and His Church.
Are we spiritually snoozing each day, not committing time for prayer and spiritual reading? Are we snoozing by not learning about our Catholic faith as taught in the Catechism of the Catholic Church? Are we snoozing on Sunday morning, too tired and uninterested in worshiping our God at Holy Mass?
We are Catholic. Our spiritual alarm clocks should not have a snooze button. We do not have the luxury of putting God on hold. We are called to be fully awake and alive in our faith and our love for Jesus Christ. Let?s live each day fully awake to serving the Lord and doing His holy will for us.
Ponder: What changes can you make to better serve the Lord each day?
Reflect: 1 Peter 4:7-8
Pray: Holy Spirit, inflame my heart each day to serve the Lord with a passionate love for Christ.
